45 people died over 40 injured in rain-related incidents
ISLAMABAD: At least 45 people have been killed and over 40 others injured in incidents related to downpour and snowfall across the country, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The death toll from the snowstorm leading to road congestion in Murree surged to 23 after a minor girl with cold and pneumonia died at a local hospital on Sunday. The main arteries to Murree have been cleared and all those affected have been shifted to safer places.
During the current spell of rain, seven more people died and around 12 others wounded in different parts of Punjab in rain related incidents, according to media reports.
According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during the current spell of rain and snowfall, 12 people died and 29 others wounded all across the province.
Two children died in the collapse of the roof from rain in the southwestern province of Balochistan.
The first spell of winter rain and snowfall hit different parts of the country between Monday and Saturday. The Meteorological Department has forecasted main dry weather for the next 72 hours.
