Amir Khan Muttaqi meets leaders of Resistance force in Tehran
KABUL: In a major development, Afghanistan Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi-led delegation held a meeting with the leadership of anti-Taliban Resistance Force in Tehran.
According to government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, Mr. Mutaqqi held a meeting with Ismail Khan and Ahmad Massoud in Tehran. “During the meeting, the Islamic Emirate assured them that they would be able to return home without any worries,” according to Mujahid.
Senior delegation of the Afghan Taliban is visiting Tehran at the invitation of Iran. Prior to meeting with the leaders of resistance force, Amir Khan Mutaqqi also held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Tehran is mediating between the Afghan Taliban and the anti-Taliban Resistance Force.
Ismail Khan is the leader of anti-Taliban forces in Western Herat province. He had surrender to Taliban, prior to his escape to Iran.
